Ever wondered, "what are some of the most powerful natural disasters that Texas has?" You'll learn about the worst hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfires. We'll have a competition at the end: if your building can survive a disaster, you'll win a prize! You'll love this hands-on, engaging, and informational session!
Deep. Dark. Unknown. Dive into the mysterious world of the Mariana Trench. In this session you'll learn about the discoveries and secrets of the deepest point on earth. Go fishing for the creatures that populate this mysterious underwater world. Who knows, maybe you'll learn about the secrets of the Mariana?
Students will be able to learn about aerodynamics and expand on topics such as streamline physics and air resistance. They will apply what they've learned by building their own model rocket and connecting it to the real world. After building, they will compete against each other to see whose rocket traveled the farthest.
Our geological time scale session explores the massive 4.56-billion-year history of Earth, unraveled and characterized into Eons, Eras, Periods, and Epochs. Using a large visual illustration timeline, we will dive into Geo-Jeopardy and a chronological ordering race. We will discuss the Earth’s major milestones, from the first bacterial existences to the age of the dinosaurs!
We will break down quadratics from the beginning. You will also learn how quadratics interact with linear topics you've learned in 6th grade math. Next, we move into advanced properties like the vertex of quadratics and quadratic optimization. We will also be showing the Quadratic formula and derive the Quadratic Formula step by step so you understand exactly how the Ancient Babylonians did it over 2000 years ago. Finally, we will finish with some competition questions like AMC10 and MATHCOUNTS past competitions to show how it could be used in real world competitions, how it could be used your later algebra courses and to see how much you learned over this session.
